Strong cold spell hits Russia

A thermometer shows the temperature has dropped to minus 39 degrees Celsius in the town of Tara, Omsk region, Russia, Dec. 14. Russia is suffering through the worst cold snap since 1938 recently, and at least 45 people have been confirmed dead. Temperatures in some parts of Russia even plunged to minus 50 degrees Celsius.
