An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale jolted the sea north of Sumatra island, Indonesia, at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday, Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 2.1 degrees north latitude and 96.6 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 20 km, the center said.
