Countries participating in the informal high-level meeting on climate change on Friday build high hope on the next Mexico's Cancun climate change conference as many of them were disappointed with the outcome of the Denmark' s Copenhagen talks last year.

"Participants have said that the process of negotiation toward Mexico must be open, transparent, inclusive and equal," Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty M. Natalegawa who chaired the meeting told the press.

He also said that the countries have seen the need to identify some elements that can be foreseen in Mexico.

He said participants agree that negotiations must be carried out under the two ad-hoc working groups, the Ad-hoc Working Group of Kyoto Protocol and the Ad-hoc Working Group of Long-term Cooperative Action, based on principle of common but differentiated responsibilities.

According to agreement, said Marty, increasing number of countries associated themselves to the Copenhagen Accord reflects that the accord is a stepping stone in a process to achieve an agreed outcome in Mexico.

"Ministers and head of delegations shared the views that Copenhagen Conference had made a step forward in climate negotiations. They expressed willingness of their countries to continue and actively engage in the process of moving forward," said Marty.

Therefore, he said, they welcomed and supported the efforts of the Mexican government in making necessary arrangement in order to facilitate the upcoming Conference of Parties (COP).
