Hong Kong actress Gigi Lai of TVB announced she will take a
one-year hiatus to take care of her younger brother Stephen, who
has revived after being seriously wounded in a car accident in
May.

The Beijing Youth Daily reported Lai announced her decision just
after she was awarded "favorite TVB actress by mainland audience"
at TVB's 40th anniversary awards in Hong Kong on November 17.
Taking a hiatus at the peak of her career, Lai expressed that
she does not worry about being forgotten by audiences. Fame and
money are less important to her after 20 years of working in films,
TV, plays and music.
Lai's younger brother is a 31-year-old dermatologist. With a
deep love for him, the 36-year-old actress stopped working
immediately after Stephen's accident and has taken care of him
since his revival in August.
According to the report, there has not been any response from
TVB regarding Lai's announcement
