Chinese "Super Girl" Ji Minjia had an American appearance on
Sunday, performing at the Asian-American Food Expo in Los
Angeles.
The Beijing Times reported the young star won rave
reviews from local media with her performance covering songs
well-known to Chinese-Americans, including the classic tune Mo
Li Hua or Jasmine Flowers.
Ji Minjia became a role model for many Chinese girls after
participating in the 2005 "Super Girl" singing competition, a show
known as China's version of "American Idol."
She told the Beijing Times during a telephone interview that her
American trip is goal-oriented, as she is trying to get to know
some producers for her new album.
She is reportedly to meet with composer Daniel Walker in Los
Angeles for the possibility of further collaboration. The two
worked together last year to produce the title song for the
Japanese anime series Galaxy Railways.
Fellow super girls are also making headway with international
audiences.
2005 Super Girl Zhang Liangying has been invited by World Peace
One to join world-renowned musicians to sing in February. While the
champion of the 2005 show, Li Yuchun, is also on the star-studded
roster for FU-SION 2007, to be held in Las Vegas in February.
