Daniel Glaser, US Treasury Department's deputy assistant secretary, left here Thursday morning for home after holding talks with North Korea on financial sanction issue.

A working staff of the US Embassy in China made the confirmation to reporters earlier Thursday.

Glaser, who is leading the US delegation, held talks with President of the North Korea's Foreign Trade Bank O Kwang Chol on Tuesday and Wednesday in the US Embassy and North Korea Embassy separately.

Glaser said Wednesday night that the financial talks between the United States and the North Korea were "businesslike and useful".

"We also discussed the possibility of meeting next month, perhaps in New York," he said.

Financial sanction imposed on the North Korea was one of key stumbling blocks that stalled the six-party talks since September 2005.

The financial talks were held on the sidelines of the fresh meeting of six-party talks, which entered the fourth day on Thursday.

The meeting is known as the second phase of the fifth round of six-party talks, involving China, North Korea, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Russia.
