South Korea's foreign minister will visit the United States next week for talks on the results of multilateral nuclear talks in Beijing which ended Friday, announced the ministry.
During the six-day trip starting on Sept. 2, Yoon Young-kwan, the South Korean top diplomat, is scheduled to meet high-ranking US government officials such as Secretary of State Colin Powell to discuss follow-up measures on the Beijing six-nation talks on the nuclear issue.
China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United States, South Korea, Russia and Japan attended the three-day meeting in the China's capital aiming to solve the nuclear issue.
The meeting is generally viewed locally as a good start of a long process to resolve the 10-month standoff.
The six countries agreed to continue such talks by convening another meeting, according to the South Korean top delegate to the talks, Lee Soo-hyuck.
The nuclear crisis erupted last October after US officials said the DPRK admitted to having a secret nuclear weapons program.
