Terminal B at the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport will open on Jan. 15, with some adjustments in the airport's service arrangements.
The terminal will have 46 ticket counters. Counters 1 to 38 will be for domestic flights, while counters 39 to 46 will handle international flights.
Terminal A has 44 ticket counters, all for domestic flights.
Terminal A will service aircraft of China Southern Airlines, Xinjiang Airlines, China Northern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Shandong Airlines, Xiamen Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.
Aircraft of Shenzhen Airlines, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and all international flights will use Terminal B.
While boarding passes formerly told passengers which waiting room to go to board a plane they will now show only the boarding gate number.
The luggage claim areas 1 to 4 in Terminal B are for domestic flights. Number five area will be for international flights.
An airport source warned passengers to arrive at the airport early to make sure they have time to find their way around.
The source also warned passengers against taking banned objects including toy guns, knives and magnetic objects onto a plane.
About 200,000 passengers passed through the airport Wednesday when the Spring Festival transport rush began. Authorities said it would be busier in the next few days as an increasing number of passengers resorted to planes as train tickets ran out.
