Travelers leaving southern China's Guangdong Province were questioned Sunday about their recent health and given mandatory physicals if they reported symptoms similar to those linked to a pneumonia outbreak.
No cases of the illness had been reported at one of China's busiest airports, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in the provincial capital, Guangzhou.
Guangdong was struck in November by a pneumonia outbreak that killed five people.
The World Health Organization says the pneumonia cannot be stopped by standard drugs and is being spread across the globe by international air travelers.
A head of a clinic in Beijing said there had been no cases in the city so far.
