Hong Kong-based air carrier, Dragonair, will further enhance its services to a number of major destinations in the Chinese mainland as of August 1.

 

It will fly to Chongqing and Xi'an every day, while services to Fuzhou, capital of China's Fuzhou province will double to 14 a week, according to the representative office of Dragonair in Beijing.

 

The extra services are part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen Dragonair's network after the airline became part of the Cathay Pacific Group in September last year.

 

"We are pleased to bring more flexibility and convenience for mainland travelers. The addition of these extra services gives travelers more options, while we can help attract more mainland tourists to visit Hong Kong and boost the economy," said Dragonair Chief Executive Officer Kenny Tang.

 

Last year, more than 13.59 million people from the Chinese mainland visited Hong Kong, up 8.4 percent on the previous year. They accounted for 53.8 percent of all inbound travelers to Hong Kong.
