The much-awaited special Buddhist Circuit train, Mahaparinirvan Special, will be flagged off on March 28 from Delhi, a senior railway official said in Patna on Tuesday.
The special train will stop at all 12 Buddhist holy places during its eight-day-long journey, including Gaya, Varanashi, Sarnath, Kushinagar and Agra in India and Lumbini in Nepal, said P K Goel, the Managing Director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
"Our objective is to attract large number of Buddhist pilgrims and tourist to these holy Buddhist sites," he said.
