Brazilian airline company Gol announced on Monday that it included 20 more aircrafts in its order from the U.S. airplane manufacturer Boeing, as part of the biggest contract ever held in the Latin American sector.

 

Gol made its initial order in 2005. Other 737-800 New Generation planes were added in order to meet the company's expansion plan for the 2006-2012 period, and the total amount of orders reached 121 units.

 

The company did not reveal the amount of money involved in the transaction. Currently, Gol operates 56 Boeing-737 models.

 

The first 737-800 NG purchased in the contract joined Gol's fleet in July. The company added that the model was developed by Boeing especially for landing on and taking off from short runways.

 

Also, the new model meets Gol's low-cost policy, as it requires cheaper maintenance cost, lower fuel consumption, and has a 30 percent increase in the passenger capacity.

 

The air company operates 530 flights per day, to 55 different destinations in Brazil and Latin America, and is regarded as a low cost, budget airline.
