China National Tourism Administration

Manufacturers, Exporters, Wholesalers - Global trade starts here.
Precaution Enhanced for Peak Summer Travel

China National Tourism Administration is asking its branches throughout the country to inspect and to compile a report before August, of their most popular scenic destinations, especially those high risk spots.

The tourism administration issued a notice on its official Website stating that the incidents related to travelers safety should be reported within 4 hours.

Local authorities should enhance their precautionary measures and provide information on high risk scenic spots to the public before the peak summer season, the report said.

The national tourism administration also asked local authorities to enhance the service and management for its independent travelers.

China's travel industry received nearly 20 percent more in revenues during the May week-long holiday than a year ago.

From Monday to Sunday, the number of the tourists who visited 116 key domestic scenic spots, which were monitored by the agency, increased 12.9 percent, compared with last year, and ticket revenues jumped by 21.6 percent.

However, several accidents happened during the week long holiday. Ten people were killed in a traffic accident as their bus ran off a cliff in Tibet Autonomous Region on Saturday. Another car crash in Shangri-La killed 6 on April 30.

A female employee of Beijing's IBM branch died during a desert exploration trip in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Thursday; her team lost their way in the desert and only her teammates were found and rescued.

A 15-year-old Chinese-American girl died after falling from a parasail, that was carrying her above the sea in Sanya, Hainan Province, on Wednesday afternoon.

Other traffic accidents reported in Shaanxi, Hunan and Zhejiang killed 22 people in total.
