Greek Tourist Killed by Lightning at Great Wall

A female Greek tourist was killed and her male companion was injured by lightning strike while they were touring a section of the Great Wall in suburban Beijing Friday afternoon, local government source announced.

 

The male Greek has already been sent to the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, but police have not found out identities of the two Greek tourists, police authority said.

 

The two Greeks were hit by lightning at a section of the Great Wall, which is called Simatai in Miyun County, said police.

 

The county also witnessed two major traffic accidents Friday, in which three people were killed and 17 others were seriously injured due to bad weather.

 

The first accident happened around 10 a.m. Friday when a bus collided with a truck at a highway section near Simatai Great Wall. Three of the 30 passenger on the bus were killed on the spot and 10 others were severely injured.

 

In another accident, which took place at Friday noon, two minibuses were collided with each other at the Miyun Development Zone, seriously injuring seven passengers.

 

All people injured in the two accidents are under treatment at the Miyun County Hospital, said Police.
