The capital of east China's Jiangsu Province plans to install automatic driving technologies on its urban subway trains.
The driverless underground cars will realize self-monitoring and self-protection with their running speed and conditions controlled by the central computer system.
Technicians can detect any tiny malfunction in the trains within 30 seconds via data collected by the computer system.
The subway will also be installed with intelligent car doors to avoid injuring passengers when they close.
Nanjing's subway trains, with a maximum capacity of over 430 passengers each, are more spacious than those in Shanghai, China's commercial hub.
