Tibetan antelopes are unique to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and are often found on the alpine steppes of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Qinghai and Sichuan provinces, at altitudes of between 4,000 and 5,000 meters above sea level.
Tibetan antelopes have grown accustomed to the extremely thin air and can clock speeds of 60km/h over distances between 70 to 100 km.
The Tibetan antelope measures 1.3-1.4 meter in length, 70-80 cm in height and weighs 50-60 kg. It has a big snout, broad nasal cavity, and big nostrils, all the better to breathe with. It is reddish brown on the shoulders, and black and white under the neck, on the stomach, legs and hips.
The male has a pair of horns that can grow up to 60 cm in length.
