Better Conditions for Farmers Laboring in Cities

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has announced a string of measures aimed at improving conditions for millions of farmer-workers currently laboring in cities.

The measures include asking companies to abolish all limitations and unreasonable fees on these workers seeking employment.

Public consultation organizations are also being urged to offer services to farmer-workers free of charge.

Local governments should also draw up professional training and education plans for these workers.

Around 100 million farmer-workers currently work in cities, mainly in the construction, catering and manufacturing sectors. They have become a major driving force behind China's urban development.
