| Truck Overturns in Yunnan, Killing 11, Injuring 57 |

Eleven people died and 57 were injured on Sunday after a truck carrying 71 people overturned in southwest China's Yunnan Province, said local traffic police. The accident occurred at 8:20 AM in Kafang Town, Gejiu City in Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Honghe, as the truck was heading to Kafang for a fair, said a spokesman from the city government. The truck rolled as it tried to mount a pavement, leaving 11 passengers dead at the scene and 57 injured, seven seriously. All the injured people were being treated in hospital. An investigation into the accident is underway. (Xinhua News Agency June 3, 2007)
