A new world record was written into the Guinness Book yesterday in Shanghai, notifying the world that two kilograms of the fine wool fibre can cost more than US$1million, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
The Shanghai Great World Guinness Co.Ltd., a franchiser of the Guinness Book of World Records, delivered the credential to the record breaker yesterday, but the real date of the creation of the record should be dated back to last September.
The Shanghai-based Heng Yuanxiang Apparel Co., Ltd. auctioned off one jin (equals to 0.5 kilogram) of its fine wool fibre for 890,000yuan (US$266,666,or more than one-fourth of US$1million) at a wool fair in September this year.
The queerness in the wool is that it's the 100millionth jin of the wool the company has produced so far. Besides, the wool fibre was made from 100 percent underfur, using the patent technology that pioneers in the world.
Heng Yuanxiang Apparel Co. Ltd., with 70years in wool making history, now maintains four world records. The other three were created in 1997. They were the largest wool ball, the longest knitting needle and the thickest wool fibre.
