China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, announced that it has reached an agreement with IBM to develop the second phase of the multimillion-dollar Technical Document Management System (TDMS).
During a recent signing ceremony here in Guangzhou, the two companies inked the new pact which, when completed, will make all of China Southern Airlines'aircraft maintenance documentation electronic and "paperless", thus placing China's largest airline on the same electronic standard as all other major worldwide air carriers.
China Southern Airlines spent 22.5million-Yuan RMB (US$2.7M)on the multifunctional TDMS product with IBM as its cooperative partner. TDMS is part of the airline's engineering and spare parts management system,with five major modules, specifically designed to speed the information flow of technical engineering and maintenance documents.
TDMS meets the requirements of ATA2100international air transport electronic data exchange standards.
