China is trying its best to achieve peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity, but it will not allow anybody to separate Taiwan from the motherland in any form, said Chinese top legislator in Beijing Wednesday.
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks in a meeting with Hormando Vaca Diez, president of the Bolivian National Congress and Senate, and his party.
Wu said that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory, which is a fact, and the consensus of all countries of the world as well.
He expressed appreciation for the adherence of Bolivia to one-China policy, hoping that it would continue to hold this stance.
Wu said that China and Bolivia have maintained smooth relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties nearly two decades ago, and cooperation on trade was fruitful.
The frequent exchanges of the high-level visits in recent years have promoted the political trust between the two countries, and Sino-Bolivian relations is promising, he said.
Wu noted that the NPC will push forward relations with the Bolivian national congress between the parliament leaders and the special committees to further the friendly relations between the two countries and their peoples.
Hormando Vaca Diez said that China has made achievements in its modernization drive, and has played an increasingly important role in international affairs.
He said that Bolivia has always supported one-China policy and hoped China would achieve peaceful reunification at an early date. He voiced his hope to further the economic cooperation and parliamentary exchanges between Bolivia and China.
