Top Legislator Meets Japanese Guests

China and Japan should develop the bilateral relations in accordance with the three political documents including the Sino-Japanese Joint Statement and cautiously handle the concerns of one another, a Chinese top legislator said Monday.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks when meeting with Yoshio Tateishi, chairman of the Omron Corporation of Japan, and his party.

He said that Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation and personnel exchanges have exceeded any time in history, and this situation should be valued.

Wu noted Omron had trade contact with the People's Republic of China as early as in the 1970s, and the long-term cooperation shows that China's reform and opening-up policy not only benefits its people, but also provides foreign enterprises with opportunities for further development.

The Chinese government will firmly carry out its reform and opening-up policy and improve the environment for foreign investment to create a better condition for foreign entrepreneurs, he said.

Yoshio Tateishi said that it's a rare chance for foreign entrepreneurs to invest in China as the country's economy has kept up rapid growth, and Omron will expand investment with China in the fields of technology research and infrastructure improvement, and find more areas for cooperation.
