Pakistani military spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan Sunday said parallel patrolling between Pakistan and India has been agreed upon at a meeting between their border security forces.
Talking to GEO, a private TV channel, Sultan said the patrolling was discontinued due to escalation of tension between the two neighboring countries after the terrorist attack on the Indian parliament on Dec. 13, 2001 and that initially, it would beheld on the Punjab borders. Punjab is one of Pakistan's four provinces.
He added that at the meeting, Pakistani and Indian security forces also discussed repairing of border pillars, restricting illegal crossing and tackling the menace of smuggling. However, the spokesman did not mention when and where the meeting was held.
