Iranian said Sunday that it had not suspended enriching uranium and an earlier comments made by a Foreign Ministry spokesman had been wrong.
"Iran is currently studying suspending uranium enrichment," the Foreign Ministry said in a brief statement.
Hamid-Reza Asefi said earlier Sunday that Iran had stopped its uranium enrichment activities under international pressure to show it is not developing nuclear weapons.
"Since we have discussed it, I imagine that it has been done," Asefi said, referring to Iran's agreement to suspend its uranium enrichment.
Top Iranian officials on Tuesday struck a deal with visiting British, French and German foreign ministers, agreeing to sign the additional protocol to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and halt its uranium enrichment.
Iran, which agreed to make a full transparency of its nuclear activities, has handed over all the documentation of its past and present nuclear activities to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iran also said it would inform the IAEA of its intention to sign the protocol before the agency's next board meeting on Nov. 20.
