Russia and South Korea have agreed that the current problems on the Korean Peninsula must be resolved peacefully by ensuring its nuclear-free status, Interfax reported on Tuesday.
During the Monday consultations between the two foreign ministries, both sides shared the opinion that it would be possible for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and South Korea to make a substantive contribution to easing the tension on the Korean Peninsula through further contacts and the implementation of various projects, a Russian Foreign Ministry statement was quoted as saying.
The two sides also exchanged views on prospects for the development of bilateral relations and discussed a schedule of political contacts, as well as economic and cultural projects, said the statement.
