China Working for Solving DPRK Nuclear Issue Through Dialogue
China will continue working with all parties concerned for an early and proper settlement of the nuclear issue in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) through dialogue, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said Thursday.

Spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said at a press conference that China?s attitude towards the issue is clear-cut, namely to maintain a peaceful, stable and nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and to resolve the crisis through dialogue.

"The Chinese side is working toward that goal," she said.

Diplomatic activities concerning the issue were "frequent and vibrant" currently, Zhang said. Russian Vice-Foreign Minister Alexander Losiukov is to visit the DPRK soon as the Russian president's special envoy, the DPRK and the Republic of Korea will hold talks next week, and Australia, the United Nations and other parties concerned are also making efforts for solving the problem.

According to the spokeswoman, Losiukov will stop over in Beijing Thursday evening on his way to the DPRK and meet with Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Yang Wenchang for an exchange of views over the issue. Other parties concerned have also expressed willingness to maintain consultations and contacts with the Chinese side on the problem.
