Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji left Beijing Sunday morning for an official visit to Algeria, Morocco and Cameroon. He will also pay a working visit to South Africa and attend the World Summit on Sustainable Development there.
Those who saw Zhu and his entourage off at the Great Hall of the People included Vice-Premier Qian Qichen, State Councilor and Secretary General of the State Council Wang Zhongyu, Deputy Secretary General of the State Council Ma Kai, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Zhaoxing, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Jiang Yikang, and diplomatic missions of the four countries in China as well as representative of the United Nations Development Program in China.
Zhu went at the invitations of Prime Minister Ali Benflis of the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria, Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi of the Kingdom of Morocco, President Paul Biya of the Republic of Cameroon and the government of the Republic of South Africa.
The premier's entourage include his wife Lao An, and ministers or vice-ministers of the State Development Planning Commission, Central Foreign Affairs Office, Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, Research Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Economic and Trade Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Ministry of Health, among others.
