China on Wednesday expressed strong condemnation of the bomb attacks in Algiers, capital of Algeria, which killed at least 60 people including one Chinese.
"The Chinese government strongly condemns the terrorist attack, and lamented the death of the victims including the Chinese one," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Qin Gang made the remarks in a statement.
He also conveyed consolation to the relatives of the dead as well as the wounded. The Chinese victim has not yet been named by authorities, but is said to be a male working for a China State Construction Engineering Corporation.
"China firmly opposes terrorism of any form, and supports the efforts of the Algerian government in fighting against terrorism and maintaining national stability," the spokesman said.
The two car bombs exploded in Algiers earlier Tuesday, killing 67 people and injuring more than 100 others. One bomb targeted the offices of the UN refugee agency and the other exploded near the Algerian Supreme Court.
The United Nations said Tuesday 10 UN staff members were killed in the bomb attacks and there were several others who were still unaccounted for.
