The Cuba-China Inter-governmental Commission met in Havana on Monday to review the work of 2006 and plan for 2007, the Cuban government said in a statement.
Wei Jianguo, China's vice commerce minister, is leading the Asian nation's delegation, while the Cuban delegation is headed by Interior Minister Ricardo Cabrisas. Also at the meeting is Marta Lomas, the Cuban minister for foreign investment and economic aid.
The statement said that the meeting takes place in the context of excellent brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations, thanks to intense political, economic, and cultural exchanges that have led to a "development and deepening of bilateral relations in all fields."
The meeting will end on Tuesday with the signing of the 2007 minutes of notes, which will include plans for developing trade and economic relations.
Wei arrived on Sunday in Havana leading a team of government officials and business people. The Chinese delegation will also meet with Cuban leaders and discuss joint projects with the Cuban government.
