The Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Justice and Development Party (JDP) of Turkey, the ruling parties of the two countries, pledged yesterday to expand cooperation in an effort to promote bilateral relations.

 

In the meeting between Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Political Bureau of the Central Committee, and visiting JDP Vice Chairman Sukru Ayalan, the two sides agreed to foster friendly cooperation in fields such as trade, the economy, culture, science and technology.

 

The development of China-Turkey relations facilitated regional and international peace and stability, Wu said.

 

China and Turkey shared the same and similar views on many significant international and regional issues, Wu said, expressing his appreciation for Turkey's adherence to the one-China policy and support on the issues of Taiwan and human rights.

 

"The CPC will continue to cement the exchanges and cooperation with the JDC to promote bilateral relations to a new level," Wu said.

 

Ayalan said Turkey would remain committed to friendly cooperation based on the one-China policy, pledging that the JDC would further develop ties with the CPC.
