Fijian Foreign Minister Kaliopate Tavola Sunday said his country will make no changes to one-China policy and expressed his satisfaction with the development of relations with China.
Telling Xinhua on the eve of the regional leaders' meeting, known as the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) in Nadi, Tavola recalled the success of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Fiji in April this year.
He said the two countries have beefed up their cooperation in areas such as tourism, education and fisheries since the visit.
He noted a Fijian-Chinese working commission is to discuss the next step in trade and economic cooperation in Beijing next month.
The PIF, set up in 1971, groups Australia, the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Marshall Islands, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
