S. Korea, Japan to Boost Cooperation in Atomic Energy
Adjust font size:

The South Korean and Japanese governments have signed a document on closer cooperation in atomic energy, the Yonhap News Agency said on Monday.

The document, called the Cooperation Plan, was signed by South Korea's Ministry of Science and Technology and Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Yonhap said.

However, it didn't give details about when and where the document was inked.

The plan urges to share information on how to operate nuclear power safely and efficiently, and set up emergency reaction systems that can effectively cope with emergencies.

South Korea has 20 commercial nuclear reactors, while Japan has 54. There are 439 reactors in operation worldwide, according to local reports.
