China and Fiji should make joint efforts to further promote the existing friendly cooperation between the two armed forces, said Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan in Beijing Wednesday.
Cao said in a meeting with visiting Commander of the Fijian Armed Forces Frank Bainimarama that China and Fiji have enjoyed sound cooperation in various fields since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and the relations between the two armed forces also have maintained healthy development.
The Chinese armed forces value the relations with their Fijian counterpart, and are ready to further enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, in an effort to push forward the relations between the two nations, Cao noted.
Cao briefed Bainimarama on China's stance over the Taiwan issue, expressing appreciation for Fijian government and armed forces to adhere to the one-China policy.
Bainimarama thanked China for helping Fiji in economic and social development, saying that the Fijian armed forces are ready to work with China to further promote friendly cooperation between the two sides.
Bainimarama reiterated that the Fijian government and armed forces will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.
