Uganda is to hold the meeting of the four-member Joint Commission of the Tripartite-1 in Kampala on October 20-21, focusing on sharing information to combat common security threats, Radio Uganda reported Wednesday.
The two-day meeting will bring together delegations led by ministers of foreign affairs and defense from Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Burundi.
Beside the government delegations, there will also be representatives of United Nations Military Observer Mission to DRC (MONUC), the radio report.
The Tripartite-1 is based on the Tripartite Agreement which was signed by Uganda, Rwanda and DRC on October 26, 2004 in Kigali under the facilitation of the United States government. Burundi joined the Tripartite mechanism this year.
Last meeting of the Tripartite Commission took place in Kigali on August 24-25, 2005 and prior to that it was held in Lubumbashi, DRC on April 22-23, 2005.
