Wudang Martial Arts Attracts Thousands of Foreigners

Living in Barcelona and hosting a Chinese martial arts room in Spain, Joroi Vila is so attracted by Wudang Kungfu that he goes to Mount Wudang each year with many students to experience the profound martial art and culture.

As same as Vila, thousands of foreigners practice Wudang boxing, Taiji swordsmanship or sit in meditation there, which have became a special scene for the Mount, according to Guo Daoming, director of Mount Wudang Traveling Bureau.

As a world cultural heritage site, the Mount, located in central China's Hubei Province, is famous for its refining temples, ancient Taoism culture and its unique martial arts.

"Some foreigners stay here for months, some for years," Guo said, "Coming from 50 countries and regions as Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Britain, the United States, Japan, Canada, etc., the enthusiasts not only practice Kungfu here, but also set up their own martial arts and Taoism room or web site in their countries and regions."

"After six months' practice, I find the comfortable and easy Wudang Kungfu and the peaceful landscape is more suitable for me than the fierce exercises in Canadian gymnasium." Myriam Zarli, living in Montreal, Canada, told Xinhua, "Despite learning Kungfu, I also experience the ordinary live of Chinese people who are so friendly to us."
