Hungary Ready to Enhance Ties with China: PM

Hungary is ready to enhance bilateral relations with China and will make efforts to attract Chinese businesses and tourists, Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany said in Budapest before embarking on a visit to China.

Last year, China was Hungary's fifth largest trading partner and its largest in Asia, Gyurcsany said in a recent joint interview with Chinese journalists.

"We hope that China would continue to expand its presence in Hungary's trade, finance and service industry," said Gyurcsany, who is scheduled to start a visit to China on Thursday.

"We are glad to see that more and more Chinese electronics companies have made products in Hungary. We expect to cooperate with more of such companies or factories," he said.

Gyurcsany said his country also warmly welcomes Chinese tourists. "Hungary will further introduce its culture, economy, scenes and local customs to the Chinese people to deepen mutual understanding."

He also spoke highly of China's role in international affairs, citing China's role in the UN reform process and the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula.

Gyurcsany also reiterated Hungary's adherence to the one-China policy.

During his two-day visit to China, he will hold talks with Premier Wen Jiabao and other leaders.
