Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei will visit North Korea from August 27 to 30, a press release from the Foreign Ministry said.
The two sides will exchange views on bilateral relations and the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, according to the ministry.
Wu, also the Chinese delegation head to the fourth round of six-party talks, visited Japan from August 23 to 26.
Earlier this month, the fourth-round six-party talks, involving China, the US, Russia, Japan, South and North Korea, entered a three-week recess after 13 days of consultations. All the parties agreed to resume the talks in the week beginning August 29.
There has been a flurry of diplomatic activities recently, including the several contacts between the US and North Korea. But no specific date has so far been set for the resumption of the talks.
