Mongolia to Strengthen Cooperation with China

Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy on Wednesday said that Mongolia will strengthen cooperation and coordination with China in the fields of politics, economy, trade and international affairs.

The president made the remarks while meeting with visiting Vice Premier Wu Yi, who arrived in Ulan Bator Tuesday for a three-day official visit.

Bagabandy said relationship with China, an important neighbor for Mongolia, is a vital part of his country's foreign policy, and Mongolia is oriented to advance a good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust with China.

For her part, Wu said the two countries' leaders had reached broad consensus at previous meetings on the development of the partnership between China and Mongolia.

A relationship of permanent stability and mutual trust is conducive to the common development and prosperity for the two countries, she added.

Wu said China is willing to make concerted efforts with Mongolia to carry out agreements signed during her visit and look for new fields in their cooperation, which will benefit the two peoples.

Earlier in the day, Wu also met with Chairman of the Great State Hural (parliament) Nambaryn Enkhbayar, who won the presidential election held on Sunday.

Enkhbayar said Mongolia is satisfied with the vigorous development of bilateral ties, adding that Wu's visit has brought about impetus to further promotion of economic cooperation.

He also said that Mongolia will closely cooperate with China to implement various agreements signed between the two countries.

At the meetings, both Bagabandy and Enkhbayar reiterated Mongolia's support to China's stance on the questions of Tibet and Taiwan.

Wu conveyed President Hu Jintao's congratulatory message to Enkhbayar on his election as president, saying China and Mongolia will attain more achievements in boosting bilateral ties under his leadership.

China respects Mongolia's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and way of development chosen by its people, Wu said.

She pointed out that for Mongolia, her country is willing to be "a good neighbor of peaceful coexistence, a friend of mutual trust and a partner of common development."

On Tuesday, Wu met with Mongolia's Prime Minister Tsakhia Elbegdorj and Deputy Prime Minister Chultemiin Ulaan, and the two sides signed 18 agreements on economic cooperation, technology, tourism and quality supervision.
