Wen Jiabao Heads for Jakarta

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has left Beijing for Indonesia to attend an international conference on how to cope with the aftermath of the devastating tsunami.

The one-day meeting, to be held Thursday in Jakarta, is organized by the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Representatives from China, South Korea, Japan, the United States and New Zealand also will participate in the special conference.

In Jakarta, Wen Jiabao is expected to exchange views with leaders from related countries and international organizations on relief efforts, reconstruction and disaster prevention.

He will also meet with leaders from countries that severely hit by the tsunamis.
