Beijing Police Seize over 1.33 Million Pirated Publications

Beijing police have seized more than 1.33 million pirated books and audio-visual products over the past two months, a spokesman for the city public security bureau said on Sunday.

This was a result of the city's month-long campaign, launched on Oct. 20, aimed at cracking down on activities involving production and marketing of obscene publications and pirated books and audio-visual productions.

Local police uprooted a dozen underground factories which produce and sell pirated and obscene publications in the past two months. Over 100 people involved in the cases were detained by police, the spokesman said.
