Local police used bulldozers on Thursday to destroy over 2,000 electronic gambling machines valued at more than four million yuan (about 481,000 US dollars), which had been confiscated from local video game parlors.
Since the beginning of this year, police has searched 269 videogame parlors which has installed gambling machines in violation of law and had confiscated their gambling machines and funds, closing down 79 unlicensed ones.
Local video game parlors will continue to be subject to supervision, said the police. Those which observe the law will be exempt from the annual examination, while those violating the law will be punished or have their licenses terminated by the department of industry and commerce.
