The Intermediate People's Court of Hangzhou in east China's Zhejiang Province sentenced a senior official with a two-year reprieve for taking bribes.
Zhou Hang, former director of the Zhejiang Provincial Drug Administration, 54, was also deprived of his political rights for life and had all personal property confiscated.
The court found that Zhou took bribes totaling 2.67 million yuan (US$322,000) and US$170,700 between 1988 and 2001 while holding high-ranking positions in Zhejiang.
The court allowed Zhou a two-year reprieve because he cooperated with the police and the court and confessed to taking other bribes totaling 2.78 million yuan (US$336,200) before the police were aware of them.
