The General Office of the State Council, the country's highest governing body, on Thursday published a circular urging authorities at various levels to improve China's standard of rural education.
The circular stressed the significance of improving the quality of leadership and the administrative systems in order to monitor compulsory education in the country's rural areas. By doing this, governments at all levels should have clearly assigned tasks and responsibilities, the circular stated.
Sufficient finance to meet the needs of compulsory education in country areas should be guaranteed.
Personnel administrative systems should be improved so that the number of teaching staff in rural primary and middle schools can be increased.
The circular also emphasized that it is imperative to build a sound supervisory system to ensure compulsory education in rural areas can expand in a positive way.
