China's Ministry of Personnel on Sunday published a training plan for the country's civil servants, aiming to improve their overall capability.

The training focuses on "improving civil servants' governance ability and working efficiency" in order to build a capable government that can well serve the public.

It covers subjects like public administration, science, culture, history, psychology, computer skills, putonghua, or standard Chinese, and foreign languages.

More government workers will be selected to study overseas, it said.

But the plan did not specify the amount of budget allocated to the training program.

Statistics show China has about 6.5 million civil servants, and government posts have become a top choice for the country's job seekers in recent years.

Earlier this month, Gan Yisheng, spokesman of the Communist Party of China's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection called for government employees to receive ethics education after a series of corruption cases were exposed.
