There will be a tightening up of license inspection on around 2,400 medical facilities, the Shanghai municipal health bureau announced on Tuesday. Facilities with less than 100 beds will be checked every year, according to a Tuesday report of the Oriental Morning Post.
Officials from the bureau said practicable measures had been drawn up to calibrate medical facility management. Facilities with more than 100 beds would be checked every three years.
The bureau will keep on record misconducts of medical facilities, which would provide supporting evidence to decide whether or not they pass the regular inspection. If they don’t, their licenses could be revoked.
The new measures give clear guidelines on procedures and time limits for inspection application and acceptance. Medical facilities could be ordered to stop functioning or have their licenses revoked if they don’t have their accreditation verified in the required time period.
The municipal health bureau has asked health authorities at various levels in the city to enhance the supervision over medical facilities under their jurisdiction, keep daily records on file and exchange information with the municipal health bureau.
