The chief of Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) said Tuesday the Legislative Council election process was clean and fair.
Raymond Wong told the press that the ICAC has so far received 87 complaints related to Sunday's election, and most of them are minor.
Wong said the complaints mainly covered electoral bribery, vote planting and making false statements.
While the complaint figure is slightly higher than that of the 2000 LegCo election, Wong said the situation is not serious.
The higher figure may be caused by the fierce competition among candidates in this year's election, he added.
The election for the third term of the 60-member Legislative Council was held in Hong Kong on Sunday and the new legislature was formed Monday. Over 1.78 million Hong Kong residents cast their ballots.
