Legislature to Discuss Amendment Drafts of Nine Laws

China's legislature will make the first deliberation on the amendment drafts of nine laws closely related to the Administrative Licensing Law during a legislative session starting Aug. 23.

The agenda was adopted at Monday's meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, presided over by Chairman Wu Bangguo.

Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) and the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council found that some items and clauses in such laws as highway law, corporation law, securities law, receipt law, auction law, wildlife protection law, fishery law, seeds law and degree regulation, have violated the newly-issued Administrative Licensing Law and therefore must be revised, according to Monday's meeting.

The amendments to the nine laws fully accord with the spirit of the Administrative Licensing Law and will help the State Council and local people's congress further revise related laws and regulations.

The legislation will hold the third hearing on the draft laws on contagious diseases prevention and on online signature, as well as the second hearing on the draft resolution on further improving juror system.

The legislation will also deliberate draft law on land management, draft law on election of people's congresses at all levels, as well as draft law on organizations of local people's congresses and local governments.

Moreover, the legislation will deliberate and approve the UNESCO's convention on safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and the cooperative agreement on fighting against terrorism, separatism and extremism between China and Uzbekistan.

The State Council will submit a proposal saying that China will accede to Convention on the safety of United Nations and Associated Personnel, to the legislation for deliberation.

The legislation will hear and deliberate the report on implementation of national economy and social development plan, the report on current agriculture and rural work report as well as the report on the implementation of animal epidemic prevention law.
