Macao will stage a stamp show depicting the story of Olympics from July 30 to August 6 to coincide with the opening of the Athens Olympic Games, the Macao Post Bureau announced here Wednesday.
Besides collected stamps issued to commemorate the Olympic Games all through the years, the organizer has prepared to present three sets of original blueprints of stamps, which were issued by the bureau to mark the Olympic Games held in Seoul in 1988, the one in Barcelona in 1992 and the one to be opened in Greece on July 30.
The bureau planned to issue 1.28 million pieces of the Athens Olympics stamps on July 30.
Spokesman with the bureau said that inheriting the spirit of fairness and peace from the ancient Olympics, this quadrennial sporting event returns to Greece, its birthplace, for the 28th occurrence this year. The development of the Olympic Games has come a long way, and the meaning of the term has transcended upon sport itself.
