The establishment of the Changji Yazhong Trade and Commerce City Comprehensive Wholesale Market was approved in 2000. The port is within the Yazhong Trade and Commerce City Comprehensive Wholesale Market in Changji City, abutting National Highway No. 312 about 38 kilometers west of Urumqi. The market covers 286,000 square meters, with a building area of 200,000 square meters. Ultimately, about 10,000 booths are expected to operate there. The port contains the offices of the inspection units and customs holding and supervision depot, occupying 21,000 square meters.
