A Hong Kong businessman was admitted to the isolation ward in a hospital in Macao, after his X-ray images showed pneumonia infection, the health authority announced Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Hong Kong businessman began to have symptoms of cough, fever and difficulty in breathing while he was working in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong province on May 16. He went to the Kiang Wu Hospital of Macao on May 18 for medical help, when he was diagnosed of tracheitis, and recommended to take home quarantine.
As his symptoms continued on May 20, he went to the Government Hospital of Macao for help, where signs of pneumonia were found.
The health authority of Macao has notified its counterparts in Guangdong and Hong Kong about the case, and learned that the man has not contacted any suspected patients of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) over the last two weeks in Guangdong. He worked alone in Shenzhen, and his family members stayed in Hong Kong.
The health department said that the man who drove his own car to Macao did not contact other people here. His apartment in Macao has been disinfected. So far, the patient has been in stable condition suffering from a minor fever.
